Sock Wars!

On a cold, wet, miserable day during which I thought we would be lucky to get 10 blokes rock up to training we actually had a fairly reasonable turnout, including the first appearance on the tracks for Dale Beeson and Scott Freeman in 2008!

Geoff put the boys through their paces with some warn-ups, followed up by some interval training consisting of sprints, push-up, sit-ups, star jumps, and 50/100/300M runs.

After the punishment was over, it was time for some fun in the form of an excercise Geoff has developed to teach body awareness and positioning when off your feet. And so began the Sock Wars...

Basically, the boys took their shoes off, hopped into a marked out circle, and commenced a battle royale in which the winner is the last man standing (crawling?) with both socks still firmly on his feet.

Tactics, brute strength, slyness and outright cowardice all ensued, and of course we had a winner. Check out the video below to find out who it was!

Outside of training, KangasFC.com managed to catch up with Geoff to discuss his plans for the club. Geoff had the following to say:

"I have a very close connection with the Swan District WAFL trainer whose unlimited knowledge and wisdom will be a constant source of information for training ideas and league perspectives. During pre-season and throughout the season, I will ensure that the team remain injury free through their training by implementing programs that are safe and effective with emphasis on functional exercises. I will introduce the team to military style team games, speed and endurance training, strength and conditioning, multi facet circuits, team building activities and defensive techniques. Always focussing on progression through Frequency, Intensity, Time, Type of Training and Specificity."
